Author Aminka Ozmun Makes Her Bid

We’ve all heard of the ol’ expression that everybody’s got a story, that there’s a book inside everyone.  But how about a whole genre of fiction?  Or sub-genre, at the least.

That’s the case with new author Aminka Ozmun, who is not simply looking to write the next Great American Novel, as lovely as that would be, but to actually create a whole new genre (again, sub-genre) in much the same way as a literary luminary such as Edgar Allan Poe is credited with having invented the detective mystery.

Heady ambitions, to be sure, for someone who’s only still in school — as a double-major in Biology and Psychology — but given the intensity of her passion such goals are not entirely surprising.  For the sub-genre she aims to create concerns romantic relationships between black women and Asian men.  Ms. Ozmun is not only of the opinion that such fare has been woefully lacking to date, but that demand for it will only increase with time.  Despite the challenges associated with building the proverbial lemonade stand on the moon, she is eager to promote herself and, more importantly, her fiction and the new sub-genre she aims to make mainstream.
